“It was a big decision for my entire family, but I think my wife and I both feel led that this is the right decision for us,” Feely told reporters following his announcement in Gilbert, Arizona.

Feely told ESPN on Tuesday that he will run for the U.S. House of Representatives in Arizona’s 5th Congressional District during the 2026 midterm election. He filed a statement of interest with the Arizona secretary of state, which is required before a candidate can begin collecting signatures for a spot on the ballot.

Feely said that while he’s been interested in politics for years, it was the assassination attempt on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump last year that inspired him to run for office.
